Sanjal Organises Teacher’s Training on Psychosocial Support

Sansthagat Bikas Sanjal organised a three-days-long training on psychosocial support to 12 teachers from Sagma Secondary School and two from Karambote Primary School in Morang from 17 to 19 March 2017 at recently upgraded resource centre of Community Development Forum’s. Teachers of preprimary, primary and secondary level participated in the event.

Likewise, similar training was provided to 29 participants from Jana Jagrati Higher Secondary School from 11 to 13 February 2017. The training was conducted in a newly constructed resource center of Chandra Jyoti Integrated Rural Development Society (CIRDS) and library of Jana Jagrati Higher Secondary School in Dhading.

The major objectives of both the trainings were to teach importance and approaches of psychosocial support at school, basic skills of identifying common emotion behavior problems (EBP) and provide individual psychosocial support at school (PSS) to the students and basic skills of classroom based group psychosocial intervention tools and techniques.

Participants of the training expressed their happiness to receive knowledge that will help them and students for effective teaching-learning methods. They said, “We learned learning readiness of students for the quality learning through psychosocial support at school. The facilitation by the facilitator was impressive and we wish to receive refresher trainings in future.” They also made a commitment to implement the learning in their schools.

The training was facilitated by Madhu Bilash Khanal, renowned School Psychologist and co-facilitated by Keshala Gautam form Santhagat Bikas Sanjal, Lalitpur. The training is supported by Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Nepal through the third phase of Rural Education Project.
